After COVID-19: the road to recovery
The COVID-19 pandemic is having a severe impact on both the economy and society, particularly in emerging economies. The IDB estimates that GDP in Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC) will drop by between 1.8% and 5.5% as a result of plummeting international commodity prices, disruptions to trade and investment flows, and capital outflows, among other indicators.
At IDB INTAL, we firmly believe that academics, experts, and young researchers have a core part to play in helping the region come up with better tools for tackling the complex aftermath of the health emergency.
We’re launching a call for research projects that will lead to rapid appraisals and proposals on issues relating to trade and regional and global integration in LAC for the post-COVID world. The call is open to any researchers, universities, and think tanks wishing to put forward ideas to help the region recover from the impacts of the pandemic.
We will be selecting and financing up to ten diagnostic exercises and public policy proposals for Latin America and the Caribbean.
